Frequently asked questions

What size should thumbnails be?

Common choices are 150×150 squares, 640×360 for video and 600×600 for products.

Should thumbnails be JPG or WebP?

WebP is smallest for websites; JPG works everywhere.

Is the image cropped?

Yes, from the center, so the thumbnail fills the shape without stretching.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
