Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between dimensions and file size?

Dimensions are the pixel width and height; file size is how many bytes the file uses. A large image can have a small file if it's well compressed.

How many megapixels do I need to print?

About 2 MP for a 6×4 inch print at 300 DPI, 8 MP for A4.

Does this upload my image?

No, the dimensions are read in your browser.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
