Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce an image from MB to KB?
Set a target size in KB, or lower the quality and maximum width. Most phone photos drop from several MB to a few hundred KB.
Why doesn't my PNG get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so quality has no effect. Choose JPG or WebP for photos, or reduce the width.
Will people notice the quality drop?
At 70–80% quality, differences are very hard to see on screen.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
