About this tool
Images are saved as optimized PNG with oxipng. Photos will be bigger than a JPG, but nothing is thrown away; for photos where small is more important, use lossy compression instead.

Frequently asked questions
Can a JPG be compressed losslessly?
Converting to PNG preserves the JPG's current pixels exactly, but the file is usually larger. JPG's own losses already happened when it was saved.
When should I use lossless?
Screenshots, text, diagrams, logos and images you'll keep editing.
What's the difference from lossy?
Lossy (JPG/WebP) discards detail for much smaller files; lossless keeps everything.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
