Frequently asked questions

How are the colors chosen?

A median-cut algorithm groups similar pixels and picks the average of each group, ordered by how much of the image it covers.

Why don't I see a small bright accent color?

Tiny areas cover few pixels. Increase the number of colors to surface smaller accents.

Are transparent areas counted?

No, fully and mostly transparent pixels are ignored.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
