About this tool

Combined with bits per pixel and resolution, it tells you whether an image is fine for the web, good enough to print, or already heavily compressed.

How it works

  1. 1

Add an image (or try the sample).

  2. 2

    The report appears instantly.

  3. 3

Copy the values you need — nothing is uploaded or changed.

Features

  • JPEG quality estimateRead straight from the file's compression tables.
  • Compression levelBits per pixel show how hard the image was squeezed.
  • Clear verdictPlain advice on what the image is suitable for.
  • Private by designEverything runs on your device. No uploads, no account, no watermark, and EXIF/GPS data is stripped from the result.

Supported formats

Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF, plus TIFF/HEIC where your browser can decode them. Nothing is changed or downloaded — it's a read-only check.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the estimate?

Very close for files from cameras, phones and most software (libjpeg-based). Some encoders use custom tables, giving an approximate value.

Can I check PNG quality?

PNG is lossless, so there's no quality setting — only resolution matters.

Can quality be restored?

No. Lost detail can't be recovered, though the AI upscaler and sharpening can help appearance.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
