Compress WebP Images
WebP is already efficient, but images exported from design tools or CMS plugins are often saved at 90–100% quality. Re-encoding at 70–80% typically saves another 30–60%.

Set the quality or a target size.
- 3
Download the smaller WebP files or a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my WebP not getting smaller?
It may already be saved at low quality. Try lowering the quality further or reducing the maximum width.
Is WebP supported everywhere?
All current browsers support WebP. Some older desktop apps don't, so keep a JPG or PNG copy for those.
Does this work on animated WebP?
Only the first frame is kept. Animated WebP is not supported.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
