Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data?
Metadata saved inside photos: camera make and model, exposure, date, software and often GPS coordinates.
Does removing EXIF reduce quality?
The image is re-encoded at high quality (95% for JPG), which is visually identical. Choose PNG for lossless output.
Do social networks remove EXIF?
Many do, but messaging apps, email and file sharing usually don't.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
