Compress PNG Images
PNG is lossless, so simply re-saving it rarely helps. The big win comes from reducing a PNG to a smart palette of up to 256 colors — the same technique popular PNG shrinkers use — which often cuts the size by 60–80% with no visible change for graphics, logos and screenshots.

Frequently asked questions
Will my PNG look different?
For logos, icons, UI and screenshots, usually not. Photos with smooth gradients may show slight banding — raise the color count or use lossless mode.
How is this different from converting to JPG?
It stays a PNG, so transparency and sharp edges are kept, and it still opens everywhere PNG does.
What's the best format for photos?
For photos, JPG or WebP is usually far smaller than any PNG.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
