Frequently asked questions
Will resizing reduce quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger cannot add real detail — for that, see the image upscaler, which uses standard resampling plus optional sharpening.
What is the difference between exact size and fit within?
Exact size forces the given dimensions (optionally keeping ratio). Fit within scales the image down until it fits inside the width and height you set, never distorting it.
What is the maximum image size?
Browsers limit canvas sizes. Very large results (over roughly 100 megapixels) may fail on some devices, in which case you'll see a clear message.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
