Straighten a Crooked Photo

A horizon that slopes by just a couple of degrees makes a whole photo feel off. Scans and phone photos of documents are often slightly crooked too.

About this tool

Rotate by any angle in 0.1° steps and the empty corners that rotation creates are cropped away automatically, so the result is a clean rectangle.

How it works

  1. 1

Add your photo (the sample is tilted on purpose).

  2. 2

Drag the angle until lines look level.

  3. 3

    Download the straightened image.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which angle to use?

Watch a line that should be level — a horizon, table edge or text line — and adjust until it's flat in the preview.

Why does the image get smaller?

Rotating creates empty corners; cropping them out trims the edges a little. Small angles lose very little.

Is this the same as rotating 90°?

No. Use Rotate Image for quarter turns; this is for small corrections.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
