Frequently asked questions

Why can't it reach my target?

Very detailed or very large images need more bytes. Lower the maximum width (for example to 1000 px) and it will fit.

Which format works best for small targets?

JPG or WebP. PNG is lossless and can't be squeezed to a target.

Is there a preset for common limits?

Yes — see the 20 KB, 50 KB and 100 KB pages.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Files are decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser using the canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is sent to any server, and there is no account or storage. Closing the tab discards everything.
